Privacy Policy
Effective date: September 10, 2026
Shamar Lev (“we,” “our,” or “the app”) is a faith-based digital wellbeing and accountability application. Because the app handles deeply personal information, privacy is a core design principle, not an afterthought. This policy explains what we collect, why we collect it, where it is stored, and the choices you have.
1. Information we collect
- Account information. Your email address and a password hash (managed by our authentication provider, Supabase). We do not collect your name unless you choose to provide a display name.
- Protection categories. When you set up protection, we store the categories you choose to protect (for example: Social Media, Family Time, Work Focus, Purity, Sleep) and your schedules and groups.
- Goals. The wellbeing goals you select or create, and whether you mark a goal as sensitive.
- Content you create. Videos you record (“Remember Why” and “Future Me”), encouragement you send or receive within a Circle, and prayer requests you choose to submit.
- Usage events. Aggregated product-usage events (for example: a protection session started, a focus session completed) used to show your own progress. We do not sell or share this data for advertising.
- Device information. Device platform, model, and app version, used to deliver the correct experience and diagnose issues.
- Purchase information. Subscriptions are processed by Apple (App Store) or Google (Play Billing) and managed through RevenueCat, our billing platform. We receive only the subscription state (active, expired, cancelled), the product identifier, and your account identifier needed to grant Premium access. We never see or store your payment card details.
2. Information we do NOT collect or store in the cloud
- Your protected app selections on iOS stay on your device. The specific apps, websites, and categories you select through Apple Screen Time (Family Controls) are stored locally on your iPhone using Apple’s APIs. We store only the protection concept (for example “Social Media”), never the exact list of apps Apple reports.
- Sensitive goal details are never shown to Leaders. A goal you mark as sensitive is visible only to you and, only if you explicitly authorize it, to specific Circle members you choose.
- We do not record or transmit your screen, keystrokes, or browsing history. Protection works through platform shield APIs, not surveillance.
3. How we store and protect your data
- All cloud data is stored in a secured Supabase (PostgreSQL) database with row-level security, so you can only access your own data and data explicitly shared with you.
- Videos and Circle content are stored in private storage buckets and are only accessible through authenticated, signed URLs — never through permanent public links.
- Prayer requests are discreet by design: they are delivered only to the Circle members you select, with only the level of detail you choose to disclose.
- Administrative staff can view operational summaries (counts and statuses) but not the private content of your goals, prayers, or Circle conversations.
4. How we use your information
- To provide the protection, encouragement, and progress features you use.
- To deliver Circle and prayer messages you send or are sent.
- To manage your subscription and entitlements.
- To send optional push notifications you enable (encouragement, prayer responses, milestones). You can turn these off at any time in Settings.
- To improve reliability and fix bugs using aggregated, non-identifying usage data.
5. Sharing
We do not sell your personal information. We share content only with the Circle members you explicitly invite and authorize, and only the specific permissions you grant each member. We may share information with service providers (hosting, authentication, app stores) strictly as needed to operate the app, and where required by law.
6. Children
Shamar Lev is intended for users aged 13 and older. Family Controls features may be configured by a parent or guardian on a child’s device using Apple’s Screen Time family features. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13 without parental consent.
7. Your choices and rights
- Access and export: you can view your own data within the app at any time.
- Correction: you can edit your goals, groups, schedules, and profile.
- Deletion: you can delete your account and associated data at any time via Settings → Delete My Account, or through our Account Deletion page. This removes your profile, videos, Circle relationships, prayer data, devices, push tokens, and progress data.
- Notifications: disable push notifications in Settings.
- Subscription: manage or cancel your subscription through Apple or Google subscription settings; you keep Premium access until the end of the paid period.
8. Data retention
We retain your data while your account is active. When you delete your account, we remove or anonymize your personal data as described above. Aggregated, non-identifying statistics may be retained to operate and improve the service.
9. Security
We use industry-standard protections including encrypted transport (TLS), hashed passwords, row-level database security, and private storage. No system is perfectly secure; please use a strong, unique password and keep your device updated.
10. International transfers
Your data is processed on cloud infrastructure located in the United States. By using the app you consent to this processing as described in this policy.
11. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. Material changes will be announced in the app or by email before they take effect. The “Effective date” above reflects the latest version.
